Dr. Jane Stieber Amato was born at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey and grew up in Boyne City. After graduating from Boyne City High School, a variety of experiences shaped the path which led to Petoskey Pediatric Dentistry: College-level cross country running, studying abroad in Spain, a Habitat for Humanity Global Village trip to Thailand, multiple Boston Marathons, research at the National Institutes of Health, and a multi-site residency including Seattle Children's Hospital and diverse urban clinics.
Between September 2014 and March 2016, Dr. Stieber worked for multiple general dentists in northern Michigan. In March 2016, she opened Petoskey Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Stieber's formal education consists of:
In 2015, Dr. Stieber voluntarily completed a multi-step written and oral examination process to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, also known as a “board-certified pediatric dentist” and has continuously maintained certification since then. She is active with Michigan Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as co-chair of the Arrangements and Program Committee organizing biannual continuing education meetings since 2017, a board of directors member for the 2019 to 2024 cycle, and president from 2022 to 2023. In 2023, she joined the Vacationland District Dental Society board of directors and currently serves as treasurer. Dr. Stieber's professional passions include educating families about why and how children get cavities and helping them develop sustainable and realistic cavity-prevention habits with a focus on healthy eating and effective tooth brushing strategies. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Stieber enjoys biking, running, CrossFit, preparing healthy meals, reading, traveling, camping, and spending time with her husband and son.
